1,2-Elimination

A 1,2-elimination or β-elimination is an elimination reaction in which an organic compound loses two ligands from adjacent atoms.

eg:

net reaction:

In this elimination reaction the two ligands 1 loses, H and Br, are on adjacent atoms.  Therefore, this elimination reaction is a 1,2-elimination reaction.
